Suspended Fish jet bass fish boat

Question:

One of my club members won a tournament of jet bass fish boat ours in these conditions. When the bass are busting the shad, tie on a 1/2 oz rattle-trap and throw it into the shad school that is getting busted. Let the RT sink (try different depths by counting it down)jet bass fish boat below the school then crank it slow. I had thrown crankbaits, spinnerbaits, topwater and everything else in the same Believe me, I will remember this technique! Greg Gonda – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I’ve been out on a local res. that is highly developed with houses, has tons of boat traffic (so bad you cannot run on the lake), but has a lot of bass. the fish are in that late summer into early fall pattern.  The shad are schooling up anywhere from 1 foot deep to 30 feet deep.  I can be around shad and bass all day, throw everything I have at them from topwaters, crankbaits and spinnerbaits in the morning to C-rigs all day long with a lot of different looks on th end,jet bass fish boat but nothing.  I fish docks with jigs, spinnerbaits and worms, but nothing

Try going light. I guide a lake here in Texas that is highly pressured and has a large population of bass that school in the fall timeframe.jet bass fish boat I get them with clear topwaters like a Boy Howdy or Tiny Torpedo. When the school goes down, I switch to a smoke 2-3″ grub and my ultra-light spinning rig with 6 lb. test Firewire. I just count the grub down to the depth of the fish and swim it through. Also try a Little George fished in the same manner. Also fishing at night is another option, I’ve found on lakes where there is a lot of boat traffic, that a good majority of fish feed at night. Try  slow rolling a black spinnerbait with Colorado blades over the tips of grass or other structure or try a black jig and craw combination at night.jet bass fish boat  One thing to keep in mind when fishing highly pressured lakes, fish get a little smarter so do what other people are not doing, search out those subtle breaks offshore and points that don’t seem to go anywhere but have just a small bit of jet bass fish boatstructure such as a roadbed or grassbed nearby that holds fish.                                                 Hope this helps,                                                         Mike North                                                         Mike’s Guide Service http://lonestar.texas.net/~mnorth/index.htm says… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -I’ve been out on a local res. that is highly developed with houses, has tons of boat traffic (so bad you cannot run on the lake), but has a lot of bass. the fish are in that late summer into early fall pattern.  The shad are schooling up anywhere from 1 foot deep to 30 feet deep.  I can be around shad and bass all day, throw everything I have at them from topwaters, crankbaits and spinnerbaits in the morning to C-rigs all day long with a lot of different looks on th end, but nothing.  I fish docks with jigs, spinnerbaits and worms, but nothing.  3 fish in 10 hours – 2 in heavy cover and 1 on a C-rig.   I know that there are bass around all these shad, I see them bust them all day. I also know that a lot of shad and bass are suspended.  There is very little heavy cover in the lake and everyone knows where it is. The docks, grassbeds, flats breaks and points are not producing even though there are shad on them.   What do some of you do strictly for suspended fish when the conventional baits fail such as crankbaits, spinnerbaits, C-rigs, etc.?  Give up and hit the couch? This res. has always been known for quick 5 fish limits in 1 hour or less on crankbaits and C-rigs.  I have never seen it this tough ever.  Jyst looking for some thoughts on the suspended fish subject as most of our lakes will be entering this summer to fall phase soon. I had the same trouble a couple of weeks ago on a small lake here in AL. The solution I found very productive is find a bait that matches the size and color of the bait fish on which they are feeding.  If they are popping the surface, try throwing a Zarra Spook (as soon as you see them surface and in their path) and twitch it in an eratic motion.  A buddy and I caught over 15 in 2 hours. The next weekend they would not hit the spook so we tried a shallow diving Rapala.  We again caught at least the same amount.  If the bait fish are deeper, try a Rat-L-Trap with a slow retrieve. This past weekend, that buddy and I discovered something we would have never thought of, a yellow trick worm (ZOOM Trick Worm).  We were just playing around with this worm about 14 feet from bank and a big monster came out from nowhere (and snapped the line).  We think these bigger bass are below the smaller ones eating their left overs. If all else fails, buy some live shad and fish with a cork at the appropriate depth. Hope this helps!
