A Fish Story striped bass fishing- or lack there of….

Question:

I Have had a 89′ Stratos 201 Pro for striped bass fishing a couple of years, and just recently (February) purchased a 96 Champion 202 Elite with a Mariner 225.  My buddy and I made a trip to Dallas, Texas – about an 11 hour trip – to pick up the boat.   My new boat has been sitting since.  Every conversation my buddy and I had, had some sort of hinting about a fishing trip.striped bass fishing   So I spent all of last week and the beginning of this week preparing the boat, registration etc.. We leave for Elephante Butte Lake early Tuesday morning (90 or so miles away).  We both have such butterflies, such anticipation for our first outing of the season and a new boat to top it all off.   We got started and spent about an hour of casting with no luck, the wind then decided to pick up and make the use of my trolling motor almost impossible.  So we decided to troll around with my mariner.   After about 10 minutes I hooked up a MONSTER 10oz Large Mouth,striped bass fishing  all though at only around 10oz’s his mouth wasn’t too big.  Needless to say, the wind kept getting stronger and stronger so we decided to call it a day. Come to find out, I hadn’t been watching the news lately – was too busy trying to prepare for the trip, FBI was in town to investigate a Rape/Kidnapping.  We had a hard time finding a motel room, but once we did, we headed over to the main tackle shop to catch up on all the gossip.striped bass fishing  No one has been having much luck fishing, and that there were almost twice as many Journalists in town than succesful fisherman. After catching ear fulls of gossip we decided to do some bank fishing until dark.   The twelve pack we hammered down made up for the fish we didn’t catch.   Next morning we woke up to find the wind getting a head start and blowing a few hours earlier than the day before.  We made it back to El Paso by 10 am, both frustrated and discouraged – I placed a nice order with bass pro shops. My first trip of the season left a little to be desired,striped bass fishing but it was better than being at work. Jay Stone El Paso, Texas I was thinking of heading to South Carolina later this summer to attend the Pro-Tec School of Bass Fishing.   Anyone had any experience with this school, etc.?  Just curious.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.   I would like to get away and fish some different bodies of water, and a little instruction might be nice as well.   The brochure and info I got seems to be like a decent investment.

Texas I was thinking of heading to South Carolina later this summer to attend the Pro-Tec School of Bass Fishing.   Anyone had any experience with this school, etc.?  Just curious. striped bass fishing  Any input would be greatly appreciated.   I would like to get away and fish some different bodies of water, and a little instruction might be nice as well.   The brochure and info I got seems to be like a decent investment.

Bob, I think I’ll start a school for bassin’.  Two weeks in classroom with a one day on the water final.  Those who don’t pass go home with a cane pole and instructions for making dough balls for carp.   :) Bassman
