A lot of the places to fish up here are : cooling lakes and with the security around nuke plants being what it is now : boating on these lakes is restricted or not permissible I believe everything in Northern Illinois is open again for fishing Charlie. Don’t forget Shabbona, a good fishery and no nuke plants in sight…

The fishing down here is great Newton is a cooling lake that is a great place all year around.  I have caught several fish already this year. I mainly fish farm ponds and on the weekends head to the lake.  Just wondering if anyone else is having any luck this year?  Or is anyone finding any mushrooms this year?

Here is a link for info on Newton, http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt/PARKS/R5/Newton.htm This lake has some great bass in it.  I heard that this past fall they shocked a 16lb bass up, and she is still out there.  Also I have heard rumors of guys catching 10lb fish this year.  The lake was closed last year from July to Dec.  for constrution and new boat ramps and docks.

Most of Clinton Lake has reopened.  It’s only really restricted around the Nuke plant.  Usual winter time area closures still apply, but those should be off now also.  Of course, fishing around those guys catching puny little crappie is a challenge this time of year. Carlos
