Question:

A buddy from the office took me out yesterday. striped bass fishing from a boat It was the weirdest experience in my fishing life actually.  I caught 6 Kentucky Bass and 1 Largemouth fishing bluff banks.  The Kentucks faught harder than any largemouth I have ever caught by the way! The water was incredibly calm and still on the surface.  But the current was actually VERY fast.  My GPS showed something like 8mph while just drifting! Little boils kept popping up all around us as the current changed directions in mid-stream.  We were fishing the White River between Searcy and Des Arc.  It joins the Arkansas south of the Arkansas’ last dam.  And that feeds directly into the Mississippi.striped bass fishing from a boat We were fishing almost exclusively perpendicular from the bluff sides to our boat.  We stayed real close to the shore line… maybe eight to twenty feet at most.  We just pointed the nose into the current and tapped the trolling motor whenever we needed to steer around something.  The current did most of the work.   The key was rapid succession.  We took turns casting right behind each other.   I would cast and two seconds later he would cast right behind me in the same spot.  Then we would switch.  Whoever casted last in the area got the bite.  Weird.  Fun,striped bass fishing from a boat but weird. Yep! Reminds me of fishing the Cumberland below Barkley Dam.  When the current quits, usually so do the Kentucky’s. Carlos
