Opinions?bassmaster fishing boat fish Quantum Energy Spinning Reels Model E-5-2

Question:

I’ve got an E-3 and an E-5 and have had no problems with either one. I’ve put’em through hell too. bassmaster  fishing boat fish

Response:

Richard, I don’t think I can be a whole lotta help here.bassmaster  fishing boat fish  I’ve never even heard of ‘Don Iovino’ or his rods.  Is this a signature series rod made by someone like Quantum or Berkley? As for spinning reels, I’m pretty much of a Shimano fan.  I have a Spirex 4000, an older model 2000 size, and a TX-1000.bassmaster  fishing boat fish  The Quantum Energy spinning reels seem smooth enough to me, but they are a little on the heavy side for my taste.  I do know to warn you away from the Quantum Hypercast reels. Zebco has had more of those returned than any other spinning reel they have ever made.

If I remember correctly (could happen),bassmaster  fishing boat fish Don Iovino is a Californian fishing legend – Northen California I think. I vote for the Shimano Spirex’s also.  I use a 2000 with 8 lb mono and a 4000 with 20 lb braid and have had no problems with either them.  They crank nicely and the drags (front on mine) are smooth with a lot of adjustment room.bassmaster  fishing boat fish  The one-hand operation is also nice when you start to get tired.  However, you have to give up continous anti-reverse for it.

I have two E-5-2 reels and they are always the first in the boat… except for the beerbassmaster  fishing boat fish  I am new to bass fishing and trying to put together the best and right “stuff”.  So far, I have picked up two Don Iovino 6′ rods (Crank’n & Split-Shot).  Tried em, liked em, bought em!  Now I am looking for two

Response:

I had a quantum energy spinning reel it lasted two trips before the bail fell apart, I have had a Diawa spinning reel for 15 years and it is still in good shape,  I also have had good luck with Abu Garcia spinning reels.   I am looking for two – bassmaster  fishing boat fishgreat spinning reels.  A friend suggest the Quantum E-5-2.  Any comments/criticisms or other suggestions/recommendations would be most appreciated.  Any recommendation on line would also be appreciated.  I have been doing very well (in my opinion)!  Getting a couple nice bass every trip.  1 to 3 lbs..  (Catch n Release)  Must admit I am still doing more fishing than catching but that will change with experience.  Would like to hear from other that fish Lk. Samm. or in other King County, Washington lakes Thanks to all /s/ Jerry

Sorry I couldn’t be any more help, but most bass anglers in my area use baitcasting tackle and fairly heavy line, since our water is all pretty muddy or murky and full of snags. Good Luck and Good Fishing! Richard C.
