Appropriate Lure record largemouth bass
Question:
What is the best lure to use in about 5-10ft fairly clear water, mud bottom, on a cloudy day for bank fishing? There are some incredible largemouths in this creek, and I have been catching them on Firetiger Rapula minnows, but not frequently, maybe 1 every 30-45 minutes. Is this a lure problem, or time of day? I’m sorta new to fishing, any info on this would be,record largemouth bass well, helpful

If you are catching an incredible largemouth bass every 30 to 45 minutes, you sure as hell don’t have a problem. Mark http://members.aol.com/mmccoy01/index.html

Hell, if you’re catching an *incredible* largemouth every 30-45 *days* you’re not having a problem!

I’d settle for a less-than-incredible keeper bass that often! Although every fish I catch really is incredible

As always, when in doubt go to your plastics……worms, lizards and crawfish. Try matching the color of the water…….pumpkin seed is good for your clearer water. Texas or Colorado rig your plastics and fish em slow. Don’t set the hook right away…let the bass take it for a second or two and then give it all ya

I not sure I’ve heard of the “Colorado” rig–what is it?
Response:
Colorado rig is very similar to the texas rig…..except intead of a sliding weight the weight is afixed about a foot and a half from the plastic bait so your bait floats around close to the bottom….i don’t use it much because texas rig is so much easier to rig and a lot of the tournaments i fish are at night……but the guys that do use the colorado rig swear by it……there are some rattle beads involved in the rigging also…i think on the back of some packages of plastic baits there are instructions for col. rigging…….hope
Response:
Chip, from the explanation you gave it sounds like a Carolina Rig. I too have never heard of a Colorado Rig. Is the Colorado some subtle variation of the Carolina? Or more likely this is just a regional dialect thing!!

i don’t know what i was thinking, it is Carolina…….maybe thats what i get for moving to Arkansas…..don’t tell my buddies…..they would laugh me off the lake….. Happy fishing……Chip aka….DUH!
Response:
…..maybe a “Colorado” rig is a Carolina rig with a blade added between the plastic if you don’t have all of the other hardware handy……should work OK on a mud bottom.
Response:
no colorado, the rig you are describing is a CAROLINA RIG , not a colorado rig – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – sounds a lot like what I have been calling a Carolina rig!
