Question:
I catch fish almost every time i go out fishing.swim baits for smallmouth bass I just cast away until i tie into a smallmouth bass. I would rather use a rapala than a plastic worm. With a worm and big hook… i seem to get a deeper hook set. Also with a lure i like the hit and almost instant hook set. I cast and cast and move and cast some more. The law of probablility and being on a half decent lake says you will catch fish. Even if you don”t it gives your mind a sense of relief. It is a break to something of little purpose from something that is suppose to have purpose but it doesn’t.swim baits for smallmouth bass..figure that one out. Pardon me now i’m going to open a cold I.P.A and do a light grease and oil job on my reel. I say light one because i don’t want to delve into the inner workings of my reel to the point that i cannot get the bugger back together ot have parts fly across the bar. cheers Al Have fishing rod…will travel….
Response:
Well i did it. I took the spool/handle/faceplate off and did a light oil and grease job. My Abu reel now runs as smooth as silk. Ready and preped for next outing..likely next week. Al Have fishing rod…will travel…swim baits for smallmouth bass. Just an angler
Response:
Sorry Al… I have to disagree with you here. Some days, you can’t buy a bite!

Ok, here is a stupid question. How in the world do I catch the 20 goldfish that are swimming around with the koi in a 2300 gal pond? I have left the net in the water, only one was dumb enough to stay in it.. Maybe I need a black net.. Sorry to be sooo dumb. pond is 3 feet deep, vertical walls, plants on crates… Sue
Response:
Hi Sue, If you are in the pond, the fish are usually curious and will come to you. This will make the catching easier. Also, two nets working in unison works well. One net is held still and the other is used to guide the fish toward the other net. — Bonnie NJ http://www.users.fast.net/~maebe/index.htm – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Ok, here is a stupid question. Thanks so much for the advice, they were both wonderful. If I ever get IN that slimy pond, with the vertical sides, I would never get OUT – just too fat and old!! ha ha, can’t you just picture it now, slipping and sliding, while my husband holds the camcorder… and the cats dying with envy! Sue

Bonnie Here is the NEW and IMPROVED, and what I hope will really be the FINAL version of `Summer Wheat Germ Bread for KOI”. It’s much lighter than the previous version and holds together well. When my hand gets cold while feeding them, I let go of what’s left and it floats to the top, where they all fight over it (nicely) ’til it’s gone. 1/8 cup Bisquick 1/8 cup raw wheat germ 1/4 tspn baking powder 2 egg yolks 1/4 cup frozen petite peas 1/4 cup dried or pre-cooked baby shrimp 3 oz. orange juice Thaw the peas, then put the peas, shrimp and orange juice in a blender, cover and blend at low speed. Mix the dry ingredients, then add the egg yolk, shrimp, etc. and mix well. Take a 6 x 9 inch microwaveable bread pan (or whatever), spray it with Pam (or whatever), pour in the batter and smooth it out with a spoon. Nuke it at 75% for 4 minutes, turn it 90 degrees and nuke for another 4 minutes at 75%. When you remove it from the microwave, invert the pan and tap the bread out onto the cutting board. After it cools, cut it into one inch squares and freeze or refrigerate until used. If you freeze ‘em (as I do), you’ll want to thaw them before feeding.
